The one that got away is a friend of a friend

I should’ve known I see you again

Ohh Ohh Oh

I walked into their house, you were there on the couch

Confessions falling out of my mouth

I knew that you were friends with my friends

I should’ve known I see you again

Oh Oh Oh

Long time, No see

Time has changed me

Your still lovely as you’ve ever been

But different

I’m sitting there, wishing my words weren’t vomiting

chronically sipping a gin and platonically

Whithering, weighing the pros and the cons

Of a kiss

With a girl I don’t know anymore

Oh oh oh

A girl I don’t know anymore

Oh oh oh

A girl I don’t know anymore

I wrote you into Genesis attempting to explain

How even love as god intended it (invented) was bound to die in vain

I even reckoned with dissolving out hereditary chain

Cause I was flawed and fucked and out of luck with bruises on my brain

But I am changed ...

and learning how a cynic can be tamed

Outrunning my inherent catholic shame

I know that things won’t ever be the same

but I should say

It didn’t hit me when you kissed me but all those years ago

You must’ve planted something in me and its taken time to grow

And now the branches wrap around,

And the fruit they bare astounds me

And I think about you most days

And I thought that you should know

So much I wanted you to know

Turn the clocks back

Take it from scratch

Picking apples from forbidden trees

Just eve and me

I’m sitting there, wishing my words weren’t vomiting,

chronically sipping a gin and platonically

Whithering, weighing the pros and the cons

Of a kiss

With a girl I don’t know anymore

Oh oh oh

A girl I don’t know anymore

Oh oh oh

A girl I don’t know anymore
